“Yes, I went to Singapore’s Chinatown. And it’s not that bad at all. Well there were a lot of people in the afternoon, but the wonderful lights made for Chinese New Year celebration this February was worth the wait.

HOW TO GET THERE
Easy, just take the MRT and alight at China Town Station.

GOOD FINDS
(Okay, this is my favorite. I’m a sucker for good finds.)

I found an embroidered center table mat for only 5 bucks. Same mat I saw at the mall for $65.

Also, there’s this vintage treasure box, perfect for cosmetics or pens or whatever girly stuff you want to put for $25.  The last time I checked at Park Mall, the vintage treasure box there is around $350. Why not get one?

FOOD TO CHECK OUT
Well there were lots of foods they offered me to taste. But if you have a sensitive stomach, you wouldn’t want to try all those dried goodies you see. What I liked was the sausages + mashed potatoes at Erich’s Wuerstelstand. You can check more about it here.” missgreisey

Food Review: Sushi Tei, Paragon, Singapore

calvintimo:

I was at Orchard Road one night and happen to crave for Japanese food.  So, I headed over to Sushi Tei at Paragon.  There wasn’t any queue outside but the restaurant was almost fully seated as it was during the dinner hour.

There are so many chain Japanese restaurants around Singapore but Sushi Tei have remained one of my choice for quick, quality and value for money Japanese cuisine.  Unlike other Japanese restaurants, the standards of the food here remained more or less the same over the years.

Singapore Lights Timelapse

(Source: vimeo.com)

“On a whim I wondered what it would look like if I took a still image with my S90 every couple of minutes/hours on my recent weekend trip to Singapore and then made a time lapse from it. For the motorcycle shots I fabricated a neck strap from an iPhone cable and some masking tape that the hotel gave me. Kind of like a cheap version of the Microsoft SenseCam

If you look hard, when I deplane on the Tokyo to Singapore flight you can see my Uncle and me - he was randomly on the same flight.” David DAngelo

After a long week at work, why not take advantage of the cool evening weather and chill out at these awesome rooftop hangouts?

Halo Lounge

Set high up in the eaves of the Wangz Hotel, this lounge features a wrap-around terrace and a reflecting pool. Tiptop martinis are served to the thirsty tribe of locals and visitors. Feel free to dress up or down, as this bijou is both comfortable and casual.

The view: Make a bee-line to the outdoor deck where you can capture that picture-perfect Singapore skyline.
7/F Wangz Hotel, 231 Outram Rd., 6595-1388.

1-Altitude

The 1-Rochester Group has long provided unparallel wining and dining experiences and is continuing to do so. Here you will find a sports bar complete with a golf simulator (282), a European restaurant (Stellar) and its al fresco gastrobar, which is touted to be one of the taller ones around.

The view: The glass panels that surround the space allow for spectacular panoramic views of the city.

The Terrace Bar
The Terrace Bar atop hip hangout The Screening Room brings new meaning to the phrase “raising the bar.” Ostentatious luxury laced with East-West influences makes it one of the top spots in town, literally. Watch out for its open-air screenings.

The View: Offers a stunning vista of surrounding skyscrapers and panoramic views of Chinatown.
Rooftop, The Screening Room, 12 Ann Siang Rd., 6221-1694

Loof
Fresh air meets potent drinks at the city’s largest rooftop bar. Since it opened in 2005, a steady stream of creative and financial types have flocked here after work for delicious cocktails and the hip, outdoorsy vibe. And there’s no need to worry about the rain here either, as Loof has installed a transparent tarp so you can enjoy your fabulous drinks alfresco no matter what the weather.

The View: A bird’s eye view of the majestic Raffles Hotel across the street.
